Real requirements for System (Spigot 1.8.8, Java 21, optional MongoDB/Redis/PAPI), the 1:1 build install, and how to enable the economy that ships switched off.
System is not a public download. After checkout, the developer prepares a personal 1:1 build and delivers it to you directly in your Discord ticket, together with your license details — the same ticket is where payments are discussed (the platform documentation covers payment methods, including Paying with Crypto). Because each build is issued to one buyer, installation is deliberately short: place the jar, start the server, activate the license.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Java | Java 21 or newer at runtime — the build is compiled with a Java 21 target |
| Server platform | Spigot 1.8.8, or a fork that preserves the 1.8.8 API surface and NMS v1_8_R3 |
| Database | None required to boot. MongoDB 4.0+ is optional, for economy persistence; Redis 5.0+ is optional, for the economy read-through cache — both drivers are bundled inside the jar |
| PlaceholderAPI | Optional — for placeholders in the scoreboard, join/leave messages and book pages |
| Permission/chat providers | Vault, GroupManager, PermissionsEx or Essentials — all optional soft dependencies; System also registers its own providers when they are absent |
That table is worth reading twice: there is nothing you must install first. MongoDB, Redis, PlaceholderAPI and the permission providers are all declared as soft dependencies, and the heavy libraries (the MongoDB driver, the Jedis Redis client, the Vault API) are shaded into the build you receive. A bare 1.8.8 server plus the jar is a complete installation.

java -Xms2G -Xmx2G -jar spigot.jar noguiOne default surprises people, so it is stated here in plain terms: the economy subsystem ships disabled. This is deliberate — a lobby that does not want an economy should not run one. To enable it, set addons.economy.enabled: true in config.yml. The economy also requires Vault availability in one of the two forms described on the overview page: an external Vault plugin, or System's own built-in vault addon (addons.vault.enabled: true).
Until both switches are on, the economy commands exist but respond with a quiet no-op instead of erroring — disabled addons swap in a silent handler, so your command tables never lie. Once enabled, /balance, /pay and /money give-take-set come alive, and balances persist to MongoDB with the Redis read-through cache in front of it when you have connected those services.
Warning:The license is bound to the server it was issued for — IP and hardware limits are part of the protection. If you migrate to new hardware or your server IPs change, do not fight the binding: request a license reset through your DM conversation (see the platform page Requesting a License Reset).
Tip:/system reload applies configuration changes without a restart, and /system status gives you a live overview — the two commands you will use most while setting up.
