Production-grade Pit PvP for 1.8.8: the 35-perk economy, the 120-level ladder and prestige loop, 3+5 events, trade, bounties, contracts and cross-server sync.
ThePit is production-grade Pit PvP for Minecraft 1.8.8 (Spigot / Paper), inspired by the Hypixel Pit and rebuilt from scratch for 1.8.8 networks — the perk economy, prestige loop, bounties, contracts and events follow the same competitive shape with original engineering underneath. It runs on a MongoDB-backed storage layer with an event-driven arena framework and cross-server synchronisation, and ships as one self-contained jar with the database drivers bundled and relocated. One payment of EUR 25.00 includes all of it — no per-feature upsells.
Players fight through a vanilla-XP level ladder hard-capped at 120 with 13 color tiers, earn gold (14g per kill and 9 XP at base, multiplied by perks, events and upgrades; assists pay 6g/4XP) and renown, hunt bounties that grow with kill streaks up to a 5,000g cap, complete contracts, and trade safely at double-confirm level 60. At level 120, prestige opens: the grinded-gold gate climbs from 10,000 at prestige 1 to 480,000 at the top of the ladder, each prestige pays 10–50 renown, and the prestige cap is 35 — displayed in roman numerals. Golden heads start dropping from kill-streak 3, and events put the whole arena on a schedule.
| Area | What ships |
|---|---|
| Progression | 35 perks — 21 standard and 14 prestige, each with its own YAML file — equipped in 4 slots (slot unlocks at levels 10/35/70), plus 5 tiered renown upgrade lines (max tier 3) |
| Economy | Dual currency: session gold (kills, assists, pickups, random spawns, event rewards) and prestige-earned renown; a non-permanent items shop and permanent upgrades on top |
| Social | Level-60 double-confirm trade system, bounty hunting with streak milestones, 6 daily and 5 weekly contracts with rarities |
| Events | 3 major events (Rage Pit, Team Deathmatch, The Beast) and 5 minor events (X2, KOTH with a beacon beam, Everyone Gets a Bounty, Care Package, Quick Maths) with boss bars and top-N gold payouts |
| Presentation | State-aware scoreboard (normal / event starting / running / ending), tab list with level sorting, holograms, 6 NPC types, enderchest, level-bracket tags and rank colors |
| Platform | MongoDB (required) with an optional Redis cache, cross-server inventory/enderchest/XP sync, a PlaceholderAPI expansion (%thepit_player_*%, %thepit_stats_*%), a public dev API with custom events, and a MongoDB circuit-breaker safe mode |
The design is one pit world per server — a single, deeply-configured arena, not a multi-arena plugin. Networks scale the way competitive Pit networks actually do: one Pit server per arena behind a BungeeCord-style proxy, with the plugin's PluginType: BUNGEE mode and lobby-server setting handing players back to the hub. Cross-server sync carries a player's inventory, enderchest and XP between Pit servers through snapshot-based synchronisation (on join/leave and a periodic timer), so a player can move between arenas without losing kit or progress.
Resilience is engineered rather than promised: if MongoDB becomes unreachable, the circuit breaker drops players into a safe mode where they join instantly with default profiles, a five-second probe watches for recovery, and profiles reload automatically when the database returns. All database writes are asynchronous, and a tick monitor with a configurable threshold surfaces lag sources before players feel them.
Tip:The live demo server at mc.hypeland.org runs the latest stable build with every system enabled — no registration, no whitelist, connect and play. The next pages cover installation (MongoDB is required), the generated configuration files, and the complete command table.
